Plymouth can draw an animated boot during DDL startup. Currently we have a DDL theme that is just the previous boot drawing (witch and knight) plus our new logo, the toucan, winking ;). We can do much more interesting things for sure!

As Plymouth is using a scripting language to make the animation, nearly everything is possible. I propose the following tasks to achieve our animated boot:

1. define a short scenario
2. make a demonstration movie (movie file or animated gif or similar)
3. provide the movie elements (sprites)
4. program the Plymouth script
