Description

Hi,

First of all, congrats for the lovely distro. I installed it on an old laptop and gave it to my 8-year-old son, it's just perfect.
I installed DoudouLinux permanently but data persistence is not working. I realize the "bug" is known and probably due to former NTFS formatting of my internal drive.
If I format the drive with another distro to ext4, will DoudouLinux be able to reinstall correctly on my internal drive, and then will I get data persistence to work?

Thanks in advance,

Alexandre

Hi,

Thanks for your interest in our project. If you've installed DoudouLinux onto the internal hard disk, it should have reformatted the whole disk and no NTFS partition should be still alive ;). However, if you've installed the development release 2011-11, there is a known bug that makes it fails while making the persistence partition. For more information about issues with this release, see:

http://team.doudoulinux.org/issues/465

Cheers,
JM.

Thanks for your answer.

No I'm using the 1.1 Gondwana release, and I'm a bit surprised because the installer seems to have formatted only ~600 MB on the hard drive (no other partition shows up with "df -h").
Is there a way to force the installer to format the drive and use the whole available space?

Thanks in advance,

Alexandre

Sorry - here is what "df -h" shows:

tux@doudoulinux:~$ df -h
Sys. de fich. Tail. Occ. Disp. Occ. Monté sur
aufs 252M 8,0M 244M 4
/
tmpfs 252M 0 252M 0% /lib/init/rw
udev 10M 720K 9,3M 8% /dev
tmpfs 252M 4,0K 252M 1% /dev/shm
/dev/hda1 719M 705M 15M 99% /live/image
tmpfs 252M 8,0M 244M 4% /live/cow
tmpfs 252M 0 252M 0% /live
tmpfs 252M 8,0K 252M 1% /tmp
tux@doudoulinux:~$

When installed, DoudouLinux is supposed to create a large partition with all the space disk available. Then full persistence should be activated on this partition, not in a file of this partition. But in your case no persistence is available as shows “df -h”. Please type “sudo fdisk -l” to see the actual partitions and not the mounted ones only.

Thanks, reinstalling from scratch worked.
