Description

Stopmotion showed several annoying issues recently. Its developers don't seem to continue to improve it since the latest release was in 2008. Moreover the Debian maintainer of the package is one of the authors, and this is his only package. This means that there is a risk for this application to collapse.

An alternative can then be to use a competing application: Luciole. It is written in Python and is still being improved. There is an Ubuntu package, we should then be able to package it for DDL. The possible drawbacks are the dependencies of the package and the interface which requires a project to be created at startup.

Sub-tickets need to be created to manage this proposal.

Stopmotion is now alive. A new team has been set up on Launchpad and bugs are fixed. No reason to want Luciole as much, while it is not part of Debian.
