Description

A feature that could be interesting for older children would be to allow auto-login into the most advanced activity, Whole DDL, or even any other activity to simulate a kiosk mode. Instead of adding a checkbox in the activities menu interface, we could patch it so that when only one activity is on, auto-login is activated. We should also avoid people remove all the activities :).

As indicated on http://www.perturb.org/display/812_GDM_AutoLogin.html:

“These are the lines you need in your /etc/gdm/custom.conf ([daemon] section) to make auto-login work. It only auto-logs in on first boot, and it must be a non-root user.”

[daemon]
TimedLoginEnable=true
TimedLogin=your_username
TimedLoginDelay=0

To be checked against GDM version in use.

[daemon]
# Automatic login, if true the first attached screen will automatically logged
# in as user as set with AutomaticLogin key.
AutomaticLoginEnable=false
AutomaticLogin=
