Feature #65
closedGraphical boot/shutdown splash images
Description
As we now have a graphical boot instead of a long flow of texts (see ticket #46), we need a nice drawing. The boot splash tool also provides a shutdown splash feature, so we also need a drawing to be displayed during the shutdown process.
The boot splash image is displayed at half way during the boot process due to technical limitations. It should not be confused with the boot menu image that is displayed as soon as the CD boots and is removed as soon as the system is really booting.
Images are PNG images without limitations on color depth. The target image size should be 640×480, or at most 800×600, because we do not know in advance what resolution the user's screen supports.
Note that we are using splashy to implement the graphical boot splash. It should then be possible to display texts in drawings using the Xml configuration files of splashy theme. These text could then be translated into the user's language.
