Feature #570
openi586 Support
0%
Description
I was looking for very lean Linux distro for young children to run on old/low-end hardware. DoudouLinux looked perfect, but when running the install, it looks like there is no support for i586 CPU architecture (cmov required). Would it be possible to add i586 support in a future version? This would add great value for people looking to provide a child their own low-cost/disposable computer.
I realize that most live CDs lack support for i586, so perhaps a direct hard drive installer would be the most appropriate for this situation (http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/ch02s01.html.en#id583669). Such a solution would also get the maximum utility out of limited system resources.
Thank you for your consideration,
Robert Stiles

Hello Robert,
Indeed we previously had such request, see http://team.doudoulinux.org/issues/528. Also you can try few 486 builds downloadable from our dailybuild section:

Although we'll certainly continue to provide such builds in the future, we may not support every language spontaneously. Feel free to tell us if another language is required.

Could you tell me when a 486 build will be made available for Gondwana 1.2?
Thank you,
Robert Stiles

Hi Robert,
I'm sorry we just forgot to plan these releases! I'm going to rebuild them, don't expect to find them before tomorrow evening on our dailybuild section.
Cheers,
JM.
