Songwrite2 is a small application to write music and songs without using the musical notation.

Thanks to this application, we could offer children:

• classical child songs with lyrics
• musical accompaniment for these songs (for Dad and Mum)
• short lessons of recorder or guitar
• a way to share their culture online :)

It is programmed in Python/Gtk and requires very few dependencies:

• Python
• EditObj 2
• GTK 2, Pango, Cairo and their Python bindings
• LaTeX
• Timidity (or any other MIDI player)
• Evince (or any other PDF viewer)

Installation of EditObj and Songwrite2 was successful in Debian Lenny. Note that the official Debian package is too much outdated to be used: we need a backport. We need upstream author support, and the author is French :).
