Write a script to extract images from Debian packages

Description
Our graphic designers need to know what image can be replaced in DDL and in which format: size, resolution, file format, path. We need to write a script that is able to:
- fetch a list of packages
- unpack packages and search for image files
- save images in a directory per application
- create a table of image names, full paths, sizes and resolutions
This information will be used to design our CD artwork. This is then a critical information for the designer's work.
