Feature #151: Missing DoudouLinux tools
A tool to easily change the user name in Empathy
Added by Jean-Michel Philippe over 13 years ago.
Updated over 12 years ago.
Description
The initial user name in Empathy is “Tux” plus a random number. As it is quite complicated for children to change it in Empathy, it would be nice to make a tool to do this. Moreover starting Empathy with the random name should start this tool first.

Indeed the user's .profile
script should not change the Empathy user's name anymore. Instead the new tool should be called by an Empathy wrapper script when it detects that the name hasn't been set yet or that the user wants to change it at each Empathy start.
Here is a draw of the graphical user interface I've imagined (attached file).

We still need to create a wrapper script to make Empathy started after empathy-salut-nickname. I think this script should be part of the Debian package, we'll then change the Empathy icon file to make it run the script instead of launching Empathy directly.
A more elegant way would be to use Debian alternatives, we'll see this later, while repackaging our whole work to ease integration into Debian Junior.
